They used to have big boats from the Miami River going way up the Miami Canal, the wide man-made canal running next to Okeechobee Road. At some point way back when, they put the dam in on the Miami River and the boats could no longer access the Miami Canal from the river. A photo of a barge and a tourist boat from the 1930's is on this site at:

for the last forty six years I need to know when and why we needed those brdges, 36 Street, East 4th Avenue and the two in Miami Springs?
