Indochine.

For a French, to travel in Viet Nam, Laos or Cambodia, it is inevitably to meet several times during the journey recollections of feelings arisen from readings and movies. In the course of days we so enter in a kind of «mental Indochina» which does not have nothing to do either with the current social, political and economic realities of the three concerned countries or with any nostalgia for former French Indochina...
Walking in the streets of Cholon, in the old Saigon, we meet the Marguerite Duras’ Lovers. In the magnificent group of temples of Banteay Srei how do not to think of the theft of a Khmer statue commited there by André Malraux and told in its novel " La Voie Royale "? To Luang Prabang it is Henri Mouhot's shadow - the «rediscover» of Angkor Temples - , came to die there, that we meet. And how not to think to Régis Warnier’s movie "Indochine» (With Catherine Deneuve) by watching a junk sliding slowly on quiet waters of the Halong Bay...

The photos which follow were collected in the three countries - but mainly in Viet Nam - and were worked again so as to stick as much as possible to this Dreamed Indochina...
