October 5 2004:
Gone Fishin’

Thought I’d take a short stroll in the village, and on the way back (after visiting the cream cake shop), I noticed this fisherman. I was also quite grateful for a neighbour having a bonfire…

I’m trying to caption my photos this week with a song title; the lyrics haven’t necessarily got to be appropriate to the image. Let’s see how far that gets. This old standard was sung by Louis Armstrong and Bing Crosby.

Photoshop:
Resized
Converted to monochrome via Channel Mixer
Adjusted Grey Channel in C Mixer: Red +14%,Green +24% and Blue +84%
Framed: using Pantone Cool Gray 1C

My favorite part of this image is the way the house looks through the smoke/mist.. as if suddenly coming upon your home in the fog and feeling that sense of welcome. nice photo,Ray

Great image, the smoke really makes it for me.
Guest 05-Oct-2004 20:09

Lovely shot, looks more misty than smokey, as if it were very early in the morning.

Beautiful b&w picture. Great.
brother_mark05-Oct-2004 15:50
Great shot. Nice placement of the elements. I thought that was steam/fog coming off the water.
Guest 05-Oct-2004 15:45
So moody! Ray, you happened upon a KILLER scene! Really love this.
Herb 05-Oct-2004 15:39
Great shot
Guest 05-Oct-2004 15:37
Most excellent indeed. The smoke does appear as misty at first like a foggy morning. Then knowing its smoke gives me a down home "dog day" afternoon feeling. I like the shot.
Stu05-Oct-2004 15:33
Superb, Ray. The mist creates a beautiful crisp atmosphere.
Guest 05-Oct-2004 15:27
There's a lovely languid feel to this. I think the convenient bonfire helps.

Gone fishin..I do believe Dean Martin sang it as well. Used to sing it quite a bit when I was growing up..although wasnt going fishing. Just a delightful song.

Excellent atmospheric shot.
