The past few years have been fostering rats until they get adopted out for Rattie Ratz Rescue, a non-profit rescue operating in the SF Bay Area. Latest one I foster was a solo intact male...very sweet and I ended up adopting him and he is now an Ambassador for Rattie Ratz, going to adoption events where people can hold and see how nice rats can be.



Rats have an bad reputation but the domesticated varieties make wonderful pets. They are very social & enjoy playing games. They love to finger wrestle, chase shoe laces, unravel toilet paper & can be taught tricks. I have used them for Pet Therapy visits. I am hoping to show how cute & what nice pets they make ...I recommend rats over most rodents as pets since they enjoy human interaction. I hope this gallery photos have created a positive image of these little pocket pals.

Late 2009, with aging rats, and just one sole female left, I adopted Schnuggles (born Aug/Sept 09) to keep Ruby company. But knowing Ruby was old and probably had just a couple of months left, (she lived over 4 months longer) I adopted a little girl so Schnuggle would have a companion, but more were adopted. Cortez, the last of Mr. Soul's offspring, was 37 months old when he was euthanized due to old age ailments.
2010 adoptions: Ushanka, a Capped Dumbo, born Dec. 30, 2009, very sweet & bold little lady. Jan. 31, adopted 3 Dumbo boys, Ushanka's brothers, Blond Jovi, HOGi & Crooked Line. The dumbos & Schnuggles all have been spayed or neutered. Enjoy!
CrookLi & Schnuggles euthanized a week apart in Jan. '12
Blond Jovi joined them across the Rainbow Bridge on July 25th, appeared to have had strokes in the night. HOGi almost doubled in size the past week & the day he stopped eating with a little bit of labored breathing I euthanized him & Ushanka who had a mammary gland tumor that was in her way and she had started to scartch & lick it so thought it was kinder to let her go across the Rainbow Bridge with her brother knowing she had little time left & the quality of her life would not be the best. RIP Little buddies.
