Rüdesheim am Rhein – a wine-making town in the Rhine Gorge, and one of Germany’s biggest tourist attractions.
This is the Eagle Tower – or Adlerturm – a corner tower of the old town fortifications, late Gothic, built in the 15th century.
During the last century, the tower housed an inn called “Zum Adler”, the “Eagle”, from which it takes its name.
Goethe was a guest here several times during his visits to Rüdesheim.
