Street Sign

On the road outside one of our gates is this sign. In all the 30 years we've lived
here we've only seen 3 kangaroos, but you never know, one might hop over the
road again one day, and you'd better be warned! We have another sign by
our main gate too, just to let you know there's a slight bend in the road.

If you see this sign you know you are in Autralia. Eucalituses we have, kangaroos only in zoos! V

I remember these when I visited Darwin years ago. Where I am, you see signs for cows. Not nearly as exotic.

Great Sign.

We have crossing signs for Deer, Ducks, Cats, Geese, but never Roos!

Cool - a sign I'm sure I'll never see, at least not around here. We have similar signs for deer, which can be a huge problem where I live.

Yvonne a great picture I loves roos, but no such signs in NC
Maaike Huizer02-Apr-2011 07:12

I love this sign! I remember seeing them in many places in Australia. They made a change from our moose and deer signs :-)
Cindi Smith02-Apr-2011 01:19
I love these signs. Good to have in your country. We have a lot of deer crossing signs around here. :)
Guest 01-Apr-2011 22:43
I love it... you'd never see one around here! Nice and bright so no one can miss it.
Inga Morozoff01-Apr-2011 22:26
I enjoy seeing signs from other countries! I can't imagine seeing a kangaroo crossing the road.
Mairéad01-Apr-2011 21:23
:) We have sheep and deer signs here but none for Roos!

Love the colours.

This is a funny sight for someone who is used to deer crossing signs. And how do they know where they'll cross anyway? Great find and photo.
J. Scott Coile01-Apr-2011 15:14
Would do some serious damage.
Ceya01-Apr-2011 15:09
You have kangaroos, we have elks, and signs of warning for them - they cause fatal accidents, even deaths as they suddenly run to the road from the woods, specially dusk time!
Kerry Tingley01-Apr-2011 14:41
I can't say I've ever seen one of these. We do have a bear crossing!
Guest 01-Apr-2011 13:48
We don't see this kind of street sign here, not very common in France, great catch !!!
Stephanie01-Apr-2011 13:31
Well now, this is a sign that we don't see here in the US. What a super shot! V
Dennis Warren01-Apr-2011 12:29
I wonder...when you see one do you speed up or just blow the horn....
laine01-Apr-2011 10:32
That's a very unique sign...great choice, Von.
borisalex01-Apr-2011 05:59
It is THE SIGN of Australia! V.
Sandra Cooper01-Apr-2011 05:39
Be warned; my friend has run into them twice; and she is very careful.
Coleen Perilloux Landry01-Apr-2011 02:53
Now, I have the song "Tie me kangaroo down, boys:" for the rest of the night.
Bill Ewart Jr01-Apr-2011 02:47
Cool sign, we of course have never seen one like that around here!!!!!!!
Guest 01-Apr-2011 02:40

Oh yes!! These kangaroos can do a lot of damage if they hop in front of your car...
