I have a somewhat burgundy (flower) variety of this growing at the wood periphery on my north Georgia property. The scent is more spice-like. Does it go by another name? Thanks for your help.

In the North Carolina mountains this is commonly referred to as a "Bubby Bush"

This plant grows into a nice sized bush and the flowers spell like apples. Locals call it Sweet Betsy.
