The only definite plans this week end were to head to Harry's, but this time do it via Hwy 215 south from Waynesville. This is because I wanted to make a stop to see some friends that were in town. After a really nice visit, I headed up 215 towards the Parkway which was supposed to have reopened today. I was mainly scouting for wildflowers and a possible hike for tomorrow. The lower elevations are beginning to green nicely, but once I started gaining elevation, the lime green new growth disappeared. I was going to stop at the waterfall on the west fork of the Pigeon River, but the small pull off area at High Arch Bridge was full, so I moved on. I considered Sam Branch and Wash Hollow Falls, but passed on that also and continued up to 3 Arch Bridge.
