June 9: Not like the old days

The latest box of Kodachromes arrived back from the lab. But to say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. Y'see, back in the 80's when I shot my first Kodachromes, they came back from the lab in a plastic box, molded in Kodak yellow with the 'K' logo embossed in a opaque lid. Not any more. Plastic is waaay to expensive and they come back in these low grade cardboard boxes. Full of dust, fiddly to use and easy to tear. Great. The slide are covered in dust right from the word go. Nice one Kodak. Only one place in the world to get this stuff processed and you don't give a damn. Good job I like Fujichrome Provia.

Yes, I still have some Kodak slides in the original carboard boxes from the sixties. Some of them feature you!

There is a number of reasons Kodak loses more share of the photo industry every year (and I don't mean digital). Sadly, this is one of them.

Yes, I heard about this change. Kodachrome used to be returned in cardboard boxes in the sixties - but those have lasted....
