After my dismal attempt at capturing flying birds - today success!!
OK, I know they're not going anywhere fast..... but it's the thought
that counts. This is one of those 'street sculptures' that councils
put up in 'difficult' areas of town to 'brighten' things up. It's often
a contrast with the obvious lack of money evident in the surrounding streets
and flats....

This is it in situ, and below a few shots from just down the road.


Ellesmere Port was a boom town in the '60's with Shell, other oil
companies and Vauxhall all employing 1000's. Many of the companies
are still there, notably both Shell and Vauxhall... but the numbers
employed are a fraction of before creating many social problems.

Fair to say though the area hasn't thrown in the towel and is bringing in new
investment and work - but often work of a different nature.
The massive Cheshire Oaks Outlet shopping and entertainment village is but one
example, and there is the Ellesmere Port Boat Museum and the Blue Planet
Aquarium as major visitor attractions. I wish it well - my wife was born there :),
and we only live a few miles away now. Need to get galleries sorted, and 3 main band
rehearsals pre the Sunday concert so will not get around your galleries as much this
week - should be back next week.... PaDding will continue!
