Dragonfly or bi-plane?

No photos of interest on 12th, so here is another from 11th.
I am not really sure what this is, some kind of dragonfly I think. I often see them and they fascinate me as they look like bi-planes.

Thanks for the ID Tim, I have long wondered what they are. Yes they are hard to capture in a photo as they most often land on the ground, where they are hard to see, then they fly off before I can take their photo so I was pleased this one landed on a small plant, and I got a blurred green background as a bonus.

Tricia, it is a dragonfly. More specifically a Twelve-spotted Skimmer. Great capture. They are not easily approached.
