4 riveted tank cars that are sitting in Sterling, Illinois. The cars sit on the property of the Propheter Construction Company. The company uses the property for storage and the tank cars have not been used in a long time. A few years ago a building on the property caught fire and was badly damaged. The property has since been slated for a major clean-up effort. I think the tank cars may be scraped if action is not taken to Preserve them.
The property is adjacent to the UP Geneva sub, the two intact cars look to be very solid with little rust, a tree has grown up around one of the cars entwined in the handrail.
