The old part of the town, Freudenberg is called “Alter Flecken” and consists entirely of half-timbered houses, arranged in rows.
They are almost the same size, are all whitewashed and have similar-looking slate roofs.
Most of these houses are from the 17th century when the town was ravaged by fire and had to be rebuilt.
Freudenberg, Westphalia, lies on the German-Dutch holiday road called the Orange Route, joining towns, cities and regions associated with the House of Orange.
