The Megrez was a limited production telescope with the optics designed by Thomas M Back. One of the objective lens' is made from FLP-53 glass. The focal length is 555mm resulting a focal length of f/6.9. I have a William Optics 0.8x flattener type II that shortens this to a f/5.5 scope.
My newest scope purchased in Feburary 2009 is a William Optics FluoroStar 110 Lite, aka FLT 110. This 4.3 inch scope is triplet with one lens of exotic glass, probably FLP-51. Thomas M. Back designed the optics on this one as well. This scope has a focal length of 770mm, thus a f/7. I have just ordered the WO flattener III that is suited to this scope. More on that after I have received and tested it. If it works the scope would be sped up to a f/5.6.
Both scopes are advertised as APO (no spurious colors). My observations bear this out.
Both scopes came with the cases shown. The FLT case is really well built! Not sure about that bright red color. Each scope has a 2 speed focuser with a 1:10 speed reduction built in. Both can hold 2" or 1.25" diagonals or EP's. The Megrez focuser is a Crayford while the FLT has a new Power Line 2.5" rack and pinon style. Both have 360 deg. camera angle adjustments.
