June 17th - Back To Work

I was on my way to work, stopped at the light waiting to turn.
This lady was on the side of the road with her sign.

I have mixed feelings about this.

On the one hand, I'm moved to help.
On the other, I know of several street people who do this like you and I go to our daily jobs.
They show up in the morning, put in their day, then leave.
I've seen the same street people work a number of streets in a pattern over a number of years.

What's the truth?
What do you do?
Do I let them be invisible or try to help?

Todd, I too have wrestled with this ethical dilemma. What I tried was to make up little packets of goodies and give those to them. I rarely give them cash. I think that lately, though I've just been ignoring them.
I agree that for many it is like a job. For intance, the Mt. Vernon exit on 178. Same guys all the time. I guess eveyone's got to be somewhere.
Great use of selective color on this. Magnifies her plight. Well done.
