Wegmans is a local grocery store that has grown to a regional chain in recent years.
The store nearest my house has been one of the smallest of their stores.
It took some years, but they managed to buy the entire city block, tear down the old buildings and
build a new store (background). The old store (foreground with the name) just closed yesterday, 23 Feb. 2013.
It will be demolished and turned into the parking lot for the new store set to open in May.
The 400 employees of this store will work at other area stores during the transition.
I was surprised at the 400 number, but most are part timers.
Wegmans is usually ranked as one of the best employers in the country (full benefits for part time employees).
