Savannah Sparrows like this one found in salt-marshes around San Francisco Bay are sometimes thought to be of the "Belding's" subspecies of the Southern Califoria and Baja coastal marshes. Note the darker brown striping above with extensive black above, and thicker dark striping on the breast.
