One of our most favorite images of the lighthouse.

This perfect autumn morning captured all of the soft colors
and interesting cloud formations that we could hope for
when photographing Split Rock Lighthouse at dawn.

An ore boat can occasionally be seen at this time of morning, heading into Silver Bay,
which is several miles northeast of Split Rock.
I wrote the Shipping News site to ask which boat this was on that particular date,
but have not received an answer.
