Here we can see the deformed metal of the shroud. The cracks are disguised by melted metal.

Above the shroud, in the volute, you can see some cracking of the metal there, as well as the deformed and cracked area that extends back from that point.

That cracking in the volute will occur: the metal is thin in there....AND that area is along the casting mold parting line. When the molten metal is poured into the mold, the metal flows around and through the passages, and meets up with metal flowing from a different direction. Where the flows converge and merge is where you will see less than perfect surfaces.

And is also where there will be opportunities for porous, weakened areas in the casting.

That area in the volute is just such a place. Thin; and a point of casting flow merge. Cracks will develop there over time.

On this one, you can see that the cracking and deformation is extensive.
