I did not approach this with the intent of trying to do some magical port and polish work.

I only wanted to remove the roughness an unevenness of the several bowls, transitions, and runners. AND to get all the intakes and all the exhausts as close to being the same in size and shape as I could. To remove more metal than needed from the head casting, especially on the exhaust side, can weaken the structure. Some might consider that statement to be extreme. Such may be; but to unnecessarily enlarge the exhaust ports will increase the heat load on the structure. My goal was to do my part to help the aluminum head live with the heat that I KNOW it will be subjected to.

The combustion chamber work was to minimize the potential for hot spots that could contribute to preignition; and to assist the tight squish/fast burn approach.

No unshrouding of the valves was done because of the desire to utilize the tigh squish to the max to keep the piston crowns cool all the way around.

The cooler the pistons run, the less the pistons will heat up and expand. The cooler running pistons also help the rings do their job easier. Dealing with, and handling the heat will contribute to longevity.
