After grinding, smoothing, and blending, some careful sandblasting of the bowls and runners clean the surfaces nicely. And the blasted surface makes visual inspection of the work easier.

Some careful placement of duct tape to protect the valve seats and the guides helped to keep the abrasive sand where I wanted it to go; and not where I did not want it to go.
