Sometimes, what looks like a crack is only a casting surface imperfection. Careful cleaning and brushing will help prove whether or not the crack is a crack or not. And looking at it in different light, or with different lighting angles will help.

As hard as it is to see in these pics, in real life that crack stood out like a sore thumb.
