Mother Bug, Dinocoris sp. (Pentatomoidae: Discocephalinae)

Yasuní National Park, Prov. Orellana, Ecuador

In an observational study, actively guarding females were seen to ward off attacking parasitic wasps, resulting in greater brood hatch success. Parasitized eggs darken and fail to develop. Broods were found to have lower parasitism rates when the defending females behaved more erratically.
