Oct. 26, 2004 - Full moon

Ann Arbor, Michigan

Driving to work this morning, the full moon was hanging so low in the sky that I must have been tempted
a half-dozen times to stop and shoot photos. Finally when I got to downtown Ann Arbor about 5:30 a.m. and looked down
Washington Street and I could see the moon appeared to be hanging lower than some of the high-rises,
I gave in and stopped. Unfortunately, I didn't have a tripod, so I had to make due with a monopod steadied
against a light pole to take this photo. A few minutes later, after I drove on and parked in the parking ramp,
and was walking to work I tried again with my long lens. Here's the one that got away because I couldn't step
the shutter speed down enough to capture enough light to better show the building.

Low moon

This shot surprised me a little when it opened into it's full glory; the thumbnail just didn't clu me in to how nice this scene is. I can almost feel the air and hear the city sounds as it starts a new day.

Beautiful capture! I love the way the street light echoes the shape of the moon.
Lovely, Steve!
