Earth Shadow Painted Hills

Painted Hills

We arrived at the Painted Hill Unit about 2-3 hours before Sunset and this allowed use to figure out what we were going to do with it. Like almost all of the Sunsets on that trip, however, the light was not as dramatic as we had hoped and that limited some of the shots. The above shot shows the majority of the Panted Hills with their background framed by the ethereal purple light of Earth Shadow. This light did an amazing job of bringing out the soft pastel nature of the hills while extenuating their natural colors.
