Last Image

Superstitions

I was waiting for about 1 1/2 hours for another shot to appear toward the north. However, a snow storm moved in and blocked the view of the mountain just as the light from the setting sun hit it. The vivid lit peak (from all the snow) just disappeared from view. At that moment, I turned around and saw a faint rainbow and the cliff face on fire. It really was that red. I thought... "It will never show up on "film", but I will take a couple." Turns out my battery died and my CF card filled with that one last shot. Hence the name "Last Image".

The Superstitions in spring are a favorite subject. To bad it comes but once a year.

Steven,

I live near the Superstitions, and have indeed seen them as vividly colored as your images -- I've just never managed to capture that beauty. I am so happy that you did, and shared it with the rest of us who just stand in awe and say "wouldn't that make a fantastic photo!!" It does. It does.
