Wow you shot this very nicely! The day before I visited this overlook I took a rafting trip through it.

Thanks for the positive comment John. My lens couldn't quite capture the entire scene, so I took two shots and stitched them together in photoshop. I cropped out the horizon because the sky was overblown. The colors aren't quite as vivid as I would have hoped, but it was overcast that day and this is really pretty close to true representation of the colors I saw. Just to provide a sense of scale, see that tiny speck on the right side of the bend? That's a beached boat where a person was casting a line. Thanks again!

There is something very special about the way in which you have seen and presented this photo which makes it quite different from many others I have seen of this landscape. You've made a feature of the Horseshoe Bend itself without losing it in the clutter of a big scenic display. I like too that we can actually see some dapth and detail in the river. Usually it is shown too dark. Well done!
