Beretta SO5 12 Gauge 10_23_07.jpg

I would love to say I was bringing my work home with me but that just isn't the case. I photographed this gun at work today for the ad to sell it. It is a beautiful old Beretta SO5 over and under 12 gauge shotgun. The price is about $11,000 which is out of my price range. The wood is spectacular and the engraving is just so classic. This is where gun building moves from just making a tool to creating a work of art.

I thought my over-under was nice, but dang.....But on the up side, I will take mine to the feild, this one would barely see the light of day. If you need some help with those grouse, let me know. ;)

No I didn't switch to the dark-side. My employer provides the equipment, which happens to be a Nikon D70 which I really don't like. Years ago when I made my switch to digital from my old Olympus film cameras I played with Nikon and Canon. The Nikon's just don't fit my hands well. The buttons just don't fall in the right places. I also find the menus a little more cumbersome to work with. Things I can change with a push of a button on my Canon without taking my eye from the viewfinder required going into the menus on the Nikon.

Both take a great image but I'll stick to my Canons. When it comes time for a new body at work you can guess what I'll likely recommend.

There is something satisfying about holding a tool that has a utility and is also an art object. I appreciate my Snapon tools but snapping off a couple of wing shots with that Berreta would be in a whole other realm. Beautiful photo of a beautiful gun.
