I'm not sure if this is the downside or the upside of working in Cabela's Gun Library; but, I get to unpack all the guns as they come into the store. This little Siace 16 gauge, side-lock, side by side, hammer gun never made it to the showroom floor. I just had to have this little Italian shotgun because it is so sexy and elegant... kind of like Wanda.

It should make an excellent grouse gun.

Jeff...I wondered if anyone would notice those yellow 20 gauge shells. And yes, I did use them because they just went better in the photo.

Beautiful new sporting acquisition and photo. But I just have to ask - am I seeing some "artistic license" being used here? i.e. yellow ammo hulls to match the color of the Cabela's insignia, or does Kent make 16 g. shells in yellow instead of the standard purple?

Mike gets it. For me fine guns are really works of art; tool making taken to its highest level. That level is so high that fine artist/engravers have used them as a canvas for hundreds of years. It is the perfect marriage of wood and metal that has always intrigued me and stirred my soul. Plain and simple a fine shotgun is an elegant and fine working piece of sculpture.

If the obsession were with guns, we would be viewing photos of assult rifles. This obsession is about quality. The perfect metting of metal and wood, the hand that laces 32 lpi checkering across a twisted grain, the many many many strokes of ever increasing grits of sandpaper, steel wool and soft cloth, the steady hand and perfect eye of the craftsman etching the receiver........... if you don't understand...... you never will.

In hopes of clearing the subject up a little for those who might not have an American perspective on this shot, my interpretation is that this shot isn't about guns, it's not an obsession with the firearm itself that we Americans harbor. It is an obsession with freedom. And it is reality that freedom comes at a very high price. Nice work Bill. I just got my Fall 05 Master Catalog, lovin it :D

Bill, when you first told us about your new part-time job I was wondering to myself if you would ever actually get a paycheck from them or spend it there before you got it. This is a beautiful gun , should make a nice addition to your collection.
