Wanda03_04_05.jpg

This is just a mock up ad we did for the fun of it. The bottle of Haig & Haig Five Star Scotch Whisky was a gift from some very dear friends. They found it in an old home they were remodeling. As best I can tell the bottling is older than I am. It is a treasure that will remain unopened. The cigar is one of the last ones I bought...I stopped smoking in 1991.

The only thing I didn't like about posing for this image was that damned stinking cigar! Even when they are not lit, I don't like them! Oh I suppose the smell of tabacco in a humidor is fine, but once you light those suckers, they STINK! Back in the days when Bill was a smoker, I refused to kiss him. I told him that kissing him was like licking an ashtray, and who wants to do that?

Bill quit his smoking habit years ago, but for some reason he likes to keep those damned cigars so he can sniff them once in a while. (shaking head)

HAIG & HAIG an American and Scottish company was taken over by John HAIG & Co. producers of Glenleven, Dimple and Gold Label in 1925. This was an interesting read on the two companies and the Five Star blended Scotch whisky.

I think that Wanda could sell the proverbial 'refrigerators to Eskimos'(look - they're lining up already). That was sold as just Haig here in Canada, and Five Star is a low-end rye whiskey that comes with a little detachable star on the bottle. John

An interesting find!, in the UK it's just known as 'Haig' whisky (or was, I've not seen any for a while, may be a completely different name now)
