Babymoose1.jpg

We watch this baby moose feed on the watercress for awhile. The whole time keeping a sharp eye out for her mama to show up. We never did see mama.

Great shot Bill

She was plenty big...about the size of a small horse. They usually stay with mama for about two years. She will be as big as her mother when she leaves her.

Mother moose are one of the more dangerous critters around. We kept a close watch out for her and never saw her. We had an acre or two of willows behind us and mom could have been in there.

Without something in the image to compare for scale, it’s hard to get an idea of how large this cutie is Bill. I’ve seen many full-grown moose, (Mooses? Meese? Mice?), and know that they’re huge, … but never a baby. From the POV of your shot, she was either huge or you were lying on the ground. When babies are around, do Momma Moose get grumpy like Momma Bears do?

I love this, Bill.
