Wanda09_11_04.jpg

This wasn't the photo we had planned. We were going to go up the canyon and shoot a photo in a field of wild sunflowers; but, the weather Gods weren't having any of it. We came home and the sunset was OK but not great. We did have a little luck. As the old John Denver song goes, "There's a storm across the valley. The clouds are rolling in" and that is just what we had. A nice little thunder storm to the south made for some nice clouds and out of the dozen or so captures we managed to get lightning in two of them. We liked the clouds in this one best.

Unlike storms during the winter, I just love storms during the summer and fall. The thunder, lightening, rolling dark clouds and shifting winds always remind Me of just how powerful and beautiful Mother Nature can be. I love to watch a storm approach and then finally seek shelter when the rain begins to pour. This was a fun photo to pose for because all I had to do was stand there and enjoy the lightening show.

I've been checking in on your project from time to time. You have managed some great work, many very nice photos. This one, however, is magnificent!! By far my favorite. Excellent photograph.

A very powerful image indeed. The fact that you captured it on 9/11 gives it an even more powerful statement from a completely unexpected perspective.
