You've Got Mail!

Every day the mailbox is filled with unnecessary junk mail... how to get rid of termites, need a new roof?, save money, make money, a credit card to take the place of money.
Special discount, special sales, for the next two days only, hurry... while supply lasts... You get the idea!

But when you are in the "September of your life"... it gets worse: AARP, medicare, life-line ("help, I can't get up"), health insurance, long-term care insurance, funeral plans, direct cremation, make your money last...
and on and on and on. It is downright depressing!

So when my husband comes home and says "did you get the mail?", I say... "No... I was afraid of anthrax".

Now... we recycle, recycle, recycle!
And when it is time for me to go... please recycle every bit of me!

Interesting. I get very little junk mail here where I live in Canada (same spot as larose forest photos but she seems to get a lot of junk mail according to her comment). But the mailbox I used to have in New York got tons of junk mail of types that I never get here in Canada (like funerals and insurance).

Well, at least you can save money...it's written. :) I collect a box of the stuff, I can light the stove at my cabin, or stuff my wet boots to help dry.

Great entry Fay! A great idea for the junk mail before throwing it away!!

We're lucky we don't get much junk mail because of where we live and I'm so glad!

I don't mind junk mail, I flip through them, but most of them I put unread in the recycle bin.
I do think it could be much less, but alas!
great idea for the challenge

Haha, you are so right. In the Netherlands you can put a sticker on your mailbox, saying that you don't want any of that in it. It really works.

Coupons are important for some people to get something free!!

All the trees would agree we need less junk mail.
J. Scott Coile09-Sep-2010 21:34
Agree with Walter... there should be an opt out! Well done.

Good idea, well presented. Some days we get nothing but junk, which is still better than getting bills, but there should be a way to opt out of getting junk mail which we recycle too.
