"How We Go"

I pour a cup of coffee, make some toast, take my medicine and then proceed to read the newspaper. My day off... this is how it always begins. I "multitask" and listen to NPR radio.

I peruse the obituaries (some of you may remember that I collect "interesting" obits).

Today I look to see "how we go". And these are some of the ways:
"passed away", "entered in the arms of Jesus", "entered her heavenly home", "went to be with her loving husband", "entered eternal rest", "departed this life", "started her glorious journey to be with our Lord Jesus Christ and Blessed Mother Virgin Mary", "died quietly in his sleep", "was called home to her heavenly Father", "took flight with angels to thine place of rest",
"was released from the constraints of this life", "entered glory", "left this life".

With each obit I read, I am thankful to still be here... to have another day... and to have another chance to help make this world a kinder and gentler place in my own small way in this chaotic world that sometimes seems to be filled with so much hatred towards our fellow man. In the end, we are all mortal beings.

Once in a while I just check birth dates. A lot of youger folks seem to leave us. :(

I love your entry! Life and death belong together, lately I started also reading this obituaries only to find out how many people died in their 50´s! V.

This is beautiful, all those entry sentences could make a poem.
And death belongs to life too.
A great idea, perfect executed in B&W V

We stopped buying the local newspaper, so when I get a chance I read it in a cafe, and
its usually the death notices I make sure I read... at our time of life that's one of
the things we need to deal with quite often.

I love your words and a good photo to show part of your life and what you do. Yes, each day we are given is a blessing. We should live it as though it was our last and make a difference!

At least they don't write... died in agony, descended into hell, or something bad. I went to a funeral today. It was sad, but it was also so full of love and fellowship.

A good reminder to be thankful for the life we have.

I get a kick out of seeing "young" photos of deceased elderly people. That seems to be a fairly new thing here.
Great idea Fay!

This is a thoughtful, thought-provoking photo and very touching. I also like the way you start your day. It is similar to mine! I make tea, tune into to CBC (which is like your NPR), and sit down to read the newspaper, without which I cannot begin my day. Thank you for sharing. V

We have to remember that we are mortals and therefore should live and enjoy every minute of our lives because we do not know when will be our last day.

This is interesting. So different from the way death is announced in The Netherlands.
