Flagstaff Police

Flagstaff Police Coconino County

Flagstaff Arizona is a city of over 60,000 persons,
located in the high mountains of Arizona at an elevation
of 7,000 feet. Flagstaff is the 10th most populous city
in Arizona, and with 64 square miles, the 3rd largest
in land area.

Flagstaff has a typical mountain climate, with most
precipitation occurring in mid-summer. The precipitation
in summer is in the form of thundershowers, which contributes
to the cooling effect caused by the altitude to make summers
quite cool and pleasant. Most of the winter precipitation
is in the form of snow, with an average of 90 inches per
year, ideal for winter sports. The City is sometimes called
the "City of Seven Wonders", because of our proximity to
world famous Grand Canyon, Wupatki, Sunset Crater, Walnut
Canyon, Oak creek Canyon, Meteor Crater and the
San Francisco Peaks.

The Flagstaff Police Department moved into a new 35,000 sq.
ft. facility in early 2001, complete with updated communication
technology, modern records and evidence storage, and an onsite
training auditorium with seating for over 100 participants.
A new Records and Dispatch software system will be implemented
in the fall of 2001 and a new 800 Mhz radio system is planned
for early 2002. The City has strongly supported the Flagstaff
Police Department and insures that the Department can carry
out its mission to "Protect and Serve".
