Five Years After Katrina - Still Vacant

Crete-Kerlerec Streets

Something is very wrong in this country. We can send millions overseas to every country but we can't help our own.
This Manor housed the elderly before Katrina. It appears to be in good structural shape but has remained in this condition for five years. Why cannot someone help to put it back into use? Why cannot the Vatican with all of its gold restore at least ONE building like this in New Orleans.
I do not know if this building is owned by the Archdiocese of New Orleans or a religious order but it is a crying shame to have it sit while so many are homeless.
It is located in the Crete-Kerlerec Streets area, or the far western end of Treme'.

It looks like a good building, very beautiful architectural details. Too bad the church can't do more. They have more money than the government.

Coleen,
Good point along with many of your photos and commentary. We really need to take care of our own before we spend billions overseas and continue our warmongering ways.

I agree with your thoughts.

Imagine how many beds could fit in there, what a pity it sits there idle!

I don't understand either, Coleen. Money = greed so much and no one wants to let go of a dime to help anyone else. It's sad, it really is.

Rather than fences, perhaps repairs....

Certainly looks like church property. I'm not sure how all that works.

It is a wasteful shame. Not good for community spirit either.

Amen. It is a shame.

doesn't look in bad shape at all!
