Henry Howard House Inn-A point of Refuge

Prytania Street

Built in 1851 by Henry Howard, the same person who built Nottaway Plantation, this house is now a Bed and Breakfast and available for small weddings, parties and receptions. It has 17 bedrooms.
Shortly after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, when 80 per cent of New Orleans was under water, this house was used as a headquarters for New Orleans policemen whose stations were flooded. The officers stayed here for weeks and slept in every nook or cranny they could find.
Built before the Civil War, this house has seen its share of good times and bad.

Especially nice with the warm light glowing from inside. Nottoway has such unusual architecture and this home has a few quirks too. Upstairs columns are completely different from the downstairs. Iron work is just beautiful too! Very lovely home!
