Unfortunately, this is one of the most historical buildings in Ascension Parish. This is Africa Plantation House; its builder was a free man of color who was not only a doctor, but a slave owner as well. This should have been preserved!

Happy Birthday! It's interesting that scenes like this are always more interesting than scenes of new construction. The chaos and unpredictability of it all provide more suspense and tension.
