Endemic to Hawaii. It is sometimes called the "fish poison plant."
The flowers of this Hawaiian plant are yellowish green. The fruit are a colorful red.

The Early Hawaiians recognized that an extract from the branches of the plant is poisonous.
They used it to stun fish. The poison is harmless to humans.
