The premier surfing event in the world is the Eddie Aikau contest held only when conditions are perfect on Oahu's North Shore.
The last time it was held was 2004
The "Eddie" is held only when the waves are consistently above 20+ feet with the proper characteristics.
This week the waves were just right and the event was on. Surfers from all over the world gathered at Waimea Bay to perticipate in this premier event.
