The previous slide showed the APS-C frame of the Canon 500D cropped (as indicated above) and then displayed at 1:1 without the tele-extender. I expect that for smaller targets one can crop and approach seeing limits on most nights, especially if the intended crop is placed dead center and if one uses a camera with small pixels, < 5 microns pixel pitch.
