July 10: Life-long friends (Literally)

El Rancho Restaurant, CO

Way back in the spring of 1957 I was Editor of my college newspaper "The Tiger" and this man, Gene Eiswerth, became our new Business Manager. We decided to get a Coors beer together one evening, and when they checked our ID's we discovered we were born on the same day! Gene was from Salem, OR, but when we talked about birthplaces we found out that we had been born in the same hospital in Colorado Springs on the same day and year!

We of course have been fast friends since that fateful day, and have stayed in touch. After the Army, Gene spent his work career as a manager for Western Electric. He and his wife **Cathy** are now retired and live in Evergreen, CO West of Denver.

Yesterday we had lunch at the El Rancho up off Interstate 70. It was great to see both of them again.

Oh, I am five hours older than Gene. :-)

Awesome portrait. Great processing too, looks to be near desaturation.

Wonderful portrait. It's called fate--you met in college yet shared the same air in the nursery when you were born. Love the story.

5 hours? You don't look more than an hour or at best 2 hours older. You preserve yourself well. I like this portrait a lot. I am trying to figure out your excellent post processing. I think you desaturated a lot but didn't go to a total black and white?

That is one fantastic smile and a wonderful portrait. I have a lifelong friend....our Mothers became friends while they were pregnant with us....she is 13 days older than I am and I never let her forget it! Your story is truly amazing....your bassinets may have been next to each other.

Great story! Life long friends are the very best...I have a few myself. The kind of friends that know everything about you, yet love you anyway!
