July 2: Taos Pueblo

Taos, NM

I'm beginning to settle into my Colorado Springs hotel, and will shortly visit my sister and husband and also see two of their children and four grand-children. This is not my hotel (LOL).

During the week I'll be posting more of my images from my drive last week. To give you a little flavor, here is the famous Pueblo at in Taos which I visited yesterday morning.

This setting is billed as "one of the oldest continuously inhabited communities in North America." It helped inspire the Pueblo Revival style of architecture in contemporary New Mexico.

Taos, which was designated a World Heritage Site and a National Historic Site in 1992, is credited with spearheading the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 by successfully uniting all of the traditionally rival Pueblo peoples against the Spanish.
