The Strut

Del Mar, CA

We are having a glorious run of very warm days with crystal clear skies. All this is a the result of a Santa Ana condition which brings the winds in from the east flowing off the shore to the west making for ideal weather.

I had lunch with a colleague at the Poseidon in Del Mar today and took several "casual" shots.

This little guy is inviting you to see the sights of every day beach scenes taken during a half-hour period. You can see surfers, women, mothers, birds, and more women. ;-)

I am taking some time to catch up on your work tonight. This one gets my vote. Excellent composition. It would have been great with either the reflection or the shadow. You got 'em both...NICE!

I like this shot, and the angles between the bird, his shadow, and his reflection.

Well he's not bothered by what some old groundhog says...to him the weather feels fine :>)

Nice composition--got the shadow on the diagonal and the reflection filling the bottom left. My constructive comment, only because you've asked and I'm seeing something "odd" again, it looks very digital. Two highlight specks in the foreground are jpeggy and the upper right corner looks jpeggy too. Is this a significant crop? What level of sharpening/USM? I try to keep sharpening modest. Often just the basic "sharpen" function in PS seems to be just right and introduces less noise in even colored backgrounds. Sometimes 70,2,4 gives a similar sharpness. After resizing I usually resharpen even less, like 35,2,4 or 100,0.5,0

Awesome shot, love the combination of the shadow and reflection. I would give my last 4 cents to be on a beach right now, LOL.

Nice capture Robin, I did not know we had an equivalent to the groundhog.
Thanks for the education...:)

Yeah, but if he sees his shadow AND his reflection, do they cancel out, or is it 12 more weeks? Good capture.
Janet Lamont03-Feb-2005 02:10
What a great shot. I like the way you captured the shadow and the reflection.

Great arrangement with the reflection and shadow! And I'm not jealous, we've been having beautiful sunny warm weather lately in Boston -- it's gotten above freezing almost every day.

How beautiful. Is it singing "We three, we're all alone" oh, oh, dating myself.
