December 17: SP Friday – Me and my “Binkie”

Rancho Bernardo, CA

Filled with reflections and concerns after yesterday’s post regarding critiquing each other’s images, I found myself withdrawing to the comfort of my “binkie.”

Based on the comments below I have replaced the original with a black and white. The selective color version can be seen **HERE**.

Tomorrow I am starting a forum topic about this.

hummmm...quite interesting expression here!!!!!
Guest 19-Dec-2004 18:47
Yes I like this better. Great expression on your face
Guest 18-Dec-2004 22:52
Oh, this is a good one! You all right?

I like this better as well. The colored head was freakin' me out. But, is it my eyes, or is this slightly OOF? Or maybe you're going for soft focus? I do like your expression. Well done.

I like this better, really. Shows how we all see things differently! Good for that, man this would be a boring world if we all liked the same things!

No no no no no... that colored head was a nightmare come to life. This is just wonderful and leaves all the expressing to you and the photo. The other one obfuscates the wonderful expressiveness here.

The expression is clearly that of one retreating - good acting. But I agree that for this shot, the selective color is actually distracting. Solid B&W might have worked better. Cheers.

I missed the post. But the image is a gut buster. I like your humor. Somebody have something nasty to say about the commenting we do on each other's photography? My two cents... I like to see other people's ideas on my work and it motivates me to look at their work too. I'm not one to say "This really sucks!" so if I don't like the image, I move on. If I do like it, I say so and usually vote for it too. Its my favorite thing about belonging to Pbase.

I like it called a wubbie.. I have one, you know.. for real.. I sleep with it every night - an afghan I crocheted a few years ago.. I feel weird if it's not lying lengthwise in my arms.

Okay that IS weird.. isn't it? LOL

I like this.. and I like the look on your face. like you need even more comfort than a binkie can give..

And, of course, now you have my full attention.....

You just never outgrow these childhood comforts!!!

You are just too funny!
Guest 17-Dec-2004 20:28
I bet you're sick of all the "hmmmmm" huh? I didn't see the two prior! HMMMM! Sorry?!
Guest 17-Dec-2004 20:27
hmmm - Excellent, but the color head isn't doing it for me. Would love to see a solid b&w. From the tumbnail I thought it was some sand, pottery thing you were doing.

Hmmm...how did it look with the binkie in color instead? You're a nut, Robin.
Leo Charette17-Dec-2004 19:58
humm.. I guess call it a binkie... go figure.
Leo Charette17-Dec-2004 19:56
Me thinks you're not in Kansas anymore. Well at least you're dressed... though you do seem a bit pale in places. Nice use of selective coloring, though a little color on the blinky would have been good too ;) BTW, today I linked to your image of yesterday because I so appreciated your comments. Thanks.

This is really funny...I like the light alot, but WHY the selective color? (there, a crituque!)
Herb 17-Dec-2004 19:28
I am glad you are not sucking your thumb. See you later.
