November 18: J. Juan Reid -My Father

My Office

I’m changing my Picture a Day. The TIME cover is still my alphabet entry. And please check it out… it was much fun to create.

However, the story is that I am having a huge cleanup day here in beautiful downtown Rancho Bernardo, and I was able to recover this painting that had fallen down behind my desk. I feel quite touched to again see Dad up there behind my computer, so I’m honoring him with this post. He's been gone for almost 24 years. I still miss him and there is much of him in me.

Besides all this, I’ve completely cleaned the garage and had all that junk hauled away. I reorganized my camera storage space and created a new little macro studio. I’ve gotten a LOT done.

He’d be proud of me.

my dad passed away in March of 1980 . . . my mom chose to go 23 years to the day, almost the hour of my dad . . interesting isn't it how married people STILL know each other even many years after . . . .

Lovely portrait.

Robin, I want to make a suggestion. How about getting your OWN portrait taken? I'm serious! Perhaps you could find an artist who could do something in a style similar to this one of your father. I think that would be magnificent.

Nice sentiment here Robin. Lovely portrait as well. I see a bit of you there, no? I am jealous as all get out over your little studio. Wish you would come here and bankroll a little studio for me!

Check your site everyday, Robin. Enjoy each image & continue to feel talent/camera envy! Touching sentiment about your Dad. Compelled to comment today - am filled with clean garage/office envy! Congratulations! Enjoy your newly reclaimed space! (Could we ship some of our stuff out there????? It may be a wealth of photographic possibilities & I bet that you could make it all look very intriguing.) L & K from Ohio :->

Oh yes I agree He looks very distinguish. I´m absolutely sure He´d be proud of you for that cleaning, yes, but I guess He must be so proud because the great photographer his son is!.
Did He see some of your photos or did you start taking photos after He´s gone?

A very distinguished looking man and he must have been fantastic, lookie his son!! I see the resemblance. Can't wait to see what you do with the macro studio, you are really hooked aren't you??? ;-)

Touching Robin, very touching. Who wouldn't be proud of a son on the cover of Time?
Now that you're an expert on reorg, I have a basement .....

You're a good boy, Robin! I've been tackling the mess I left this summer when I went to Wisconsin for the summer...just doing a little each day; and, ain't it somethin' how much crap we can accumulate?? Nice remembrance of your father.
