The dinghy to the cruiser is what the horse is to the cowboy. Unless you can afford to tie up in a marina every night, you must have a dinghy to leave the ship while anchored away from shore. Our neighbor in the harbor was having trouble with his dinghy's outboard motor. I floated over to help him get it started. I never met him before, but Ted and I are on a first name basis now. That is the way it is when voyaging by boat. No one is left stranded and no one is a stranger for very long. Afterwards, I stowed our dinghy on Shibumi's stern arch in preparation to get underway.
