February 28, 2006

Lynn from Caribbean Call stopped by Shibumi around noon.
We were discussing the theory that it was happy hour somewhere in the world
when I looked out and saw an iguana paddling toward our boat.
The current was strong and he was looking for someplace to rest.
Shibumi has high freeboards (the area from waterline to deck)
so his attempt to board Shibumi failed. He struggled down-current.
**See what happened next by viewing the pictures in this gallery.**

BTW, we determined that it was five o'clock (happy hour) in the United Kingdom,
so we gave Lynn a Heineken and I jumped into the dinghy to get some pictures.

"When the sun goes behind the yardarm" is the time for a drink and I am sure that can be found somewhere. Poor little iguana; they certainly can scare the heck out of you when they surprise you.

He's actually really cute. I'm glad he made it to safety.

lol, my first thought was that he's got a good surfing form :)
Glad to see the results of your efforts, but I'd be looking for MORE freeboard, lol!

Ah, the tough life. Where has the sun crossed the yardarm? Does that translate to an actionable step here aboard? Will the iquana survive its perilous journey? What can we do to make this last forever?

Well it really makes me laugh. It is not a something you daily encounter. Beautiful combination of colours!
