October 30, 2005

This does not seem very charming,
but more than fifty years ago this was my first home.
It is in New York City.
The house we lived in used to be in that open space near the dark colored car.
It was my Grandmother's house.
It really saddened me to see the condition of this block of buildings.
When I was a child this was a vibrant street full of happy colorful people. It was my whole world and I loved it.

What a great building. Sad to see it in this condition.

I'm sure re-visiting the street brough back triggers to the memory. Yes, it is sad sometimes, as not long after I visited the house where my mum lived for 44 years, there was one almighty row going on between the new occupamts which could be heard in the street.

Ok, problem fixed. This is the fate of a lot of neighborhoods and even downtown areas in small towns. At least you can view it as it was in your mind's eye.

Wow.........nice story to go with this image. Do you have a photo of how it was before? The building can eventually be replaced, but the memories stay with us forever.
