Leavenworth Enyngo (Eryngium leavenworthii) plant found growing along a roadside near Webb City. The thistle-like plant is named for frontier Army surgeon and amateur botanist, Dr. Melines Conklin Leavenworth (1796-1862). The plants requires rocky limestone soil for growth.
